Celebrate Independence Day at the Severna Park 4th of July Parade

We hope these tips will allow you to enjoy a memorable morning full of patriotic pride and festive fun. Whether you're a seasoned attendee or a first-time visitor, the Severna Park 4th of July Parade is sure to be a highlight of your summer!

Don’t forget the day kicks off with a Decorated Bike Contest for our youngest residents.  Children are encouraged to decorate their bikes, tricycles and wagons, and enter the contest.  Click here for more information on this event which begins at 9:15am.

There is no fee to register. The children gather at the Chamber for games, fun and selection of the winners. They then enter the parade.

The Severna Park 4th of July Parade brings the community together to celebrate America's independence with lots of local groups, fun, and festivities.

The parade kicks off at 10:00am and ends around noon.

The route begins on Benfield Road, turns on Evergreen at Severna Park High School, and continues onto Riggs and B&A Boulevard, before finishing on Cypress Creek Road by Cypress Creek Park.

Winners in the categories of Best Overall, Best Theme and Most Patriotic will be awarded.

Arrive Early, Locate the Shade and Walk for a Treat

  • To secure a prime viewing location along the parade route, it's wise to arrive early. We tend to set up our chairs and towels under a tree on Evergreen Rd. and then  enjoy a leisurely walk to one of our favorite local businesses. Many of the businesses are open for the parade - maybe you are looking for a yummy acai bowl from B&A Acai Bowls & Smoothies and others may stop by the Big Bean for a refreshing iced tea or coffee and sweet treat.

Don't Go Hungry!
Enhance your parade experience by bringing along a picnic basket filled with your favorite snacks and treats.

  • Muffins, bagels, fruits and trail mix can make a great parade snack. Or pop into Crepes in the Park for a yummy breakfast!
  • Pick up a growler of cold brew at Rise Up for your picnic basket on your way - tip from my 17 year old!

  • Don’t forget to fill the water bottle and pack a cooler with some cold beverages

  • And grab the essentials - napkins, utensils and of course a small trash bag to keep the area clean.

While you are waiting for the street to open back up we recommend treating yourself to a refreshing snowball from B&A Snowball or a scoop from Always Ice Cream. Have you tried the coconut chocolate chip or the banana pudding? These local favorites will satisfy your sweet tooth and cool you down after a morning in the sun.

Enjoy the Parade and Happy Independence Day!
